The Standard Gambia about 3 hours 1 mins read

Amidou Djiba, the spokesperson for the political wing of the Movement of Democratic Forces of Casamance (MFDC) — specifically the Mangou-Koro faction — was granted provisional release on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old was arrested in Ziguinchor on 20th August, 2025, by security personnel. Following his arrest, he was charged and remanded in custody in connection with proceedings involving state security offences.

According to the newspaper Libération, Djiba faced charges including conspiracy against state authority and territorial integrity, participation in an insurrectionist movement, and criminal conspiracy.

The senior investigating judge ultimately ordered his provisional release. The prosecution did not appeal the decision, the newspaper reported.
