AFCON 2027Q: Queiroz’s contract terminated after Ghana’s shock defeat to Gambia

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Carlos Queiroz has left his role as the head coach of Ghana, after a shock defeat to Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.

This was confirmed by the Ghana Football Association, GFA.

GFA noted that they had reached a mutual agreement with Queiroz to terminate his contract.

This comes barely one month after the Portuguese coach was reappointed.

“This was not an easy decision, but both parties agreed that, under the present circumstances, ending our professional relationship was the most appropriate course of action, with the interests of Ghana, the Black Stars and Ghanaian football above everything else,” Queiroz said in a parting message published on the association website.

He added that “the necessary conditions were not fully established, and our recent performance added to the decision to bring this journey to an end.”
