The Mbamnga Unity and Development Association (MUDA) has appealed for calm and restraint following the outbreak of conflict in parts of Mbamnga community in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The association, in a statement dated September 16, 2026, condemned the violence, attacks and destruction of property reportedly linked to the crisis, warning that further hostilities could lead to additional loss of lives and property.
Signed by the association’s National President, Elder Japheth Wubon; Vice Chairman, Col. A.N. Adamu (rtd.); and Acting Secretary, Malam Bello Umar Dewa, MUDA urged all parties involved in the conflict to immediately cease hostilities and exercise maximum restraint.
“We hereby call on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youths, women and other stakeholders to avoid actions capable of worsening the situation,” the association pleaded.
The association specifically appealed to community members to refrain from retaliatory attacks, hate speech and the circulation of unverified information that could further inflame tensions.
It commended the Sardauna Local Government Council, Taraba State Government, security agencies and other relevant authorities for their intervention aimed at protecting lives and property.
MUDA also called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the conflict and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted in accordance with the law, regardless of ethnic or social background.
The association said dialogue, justice and peaceful coexistence remained essential to resolving the crisis, noting that Mbamnga is home to people from diverse backgrounds who have lived together over the years.
It particularly appealed to youths to resist provocation and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
“Peaceful coexistence, dialogue and justice remain the best path to resolving our differences.
“We urge community leaders on all sides to engage in immediate dialogue and work with security agencies to prevent further escalation,” the association said.
