Mutfwang Inaugurates Reconstruction Of 41km Bisichi-Fan-Mangu Halle Road

The Plateau State Government has inaugurated the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the 41-kilometre Bisichi–Fan–Mangu Halle Road, in a move aimed at improving connectivity and boosting economic activities across communities along the corridor.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who performed the flag-off ceremony, said the project was part of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and improving the quality of life of residents.

Mutfwang said the road, which serves as a vital link between neighbouring communities, would upon completion reduce travel time, improve road safety and provide easier access to markets, healthcare facilities, schools and other essential services.

He explained that the project was originally awarded in December 2012 to Eighteen Engineering International Construction Company as a surface-dressed road on a laterite base.

According to him, although substantial work was completed, increasing traffic demands and the deteriorating condition of the road necessitated a comprehensive upgrade to ensure durability and compliance with modern standards.

“Today we are not merely flagging off a road project; we are laying another foundation for progress, prosperity, and sustainable development in Plateau State,” the governor said.

He added that the road would complement other strategic projects of the administration, including the Foron–Bakin Kogi–Kadunu–Gindiri Road, thereby strengthening connectivity across the state.

The governor noted that the project would also benefit farmers by improving access to markets, while businesses would enjoy reduced transportation costs and residents would have safer and more efficient means of movement.

Mutfwang urged host communities to protect the project throughout the construction period and beyond, while directing the contractors, consultants and supervising ministry to adhere strictly to specifications and quality standards.

He assured that the state government would maintain close oversight to ensure the successful delivery of the project.

The governor commended the host communities for their patience and support, describing the reconstruction as another step towards strengthening social and economic integration among communities in the state.
