Unidentified corpse found in Plateau community

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

An unidentified man, whose date of death is unknown, was found behind the Monday Market in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Members of the community woke up in the early hours of Tuesday and discovered the corpse, after which they alerted security operatives.

Police personnel went to the scene and took the body to the General Hospital, Pankshin, where efforts were made to identify the deceased and locate his family.

A community source, Panshak Rogo, who spoke at the hospital, explained that the identity of the deceased had yet to be established, saying, “presently, they are at the General Hospital.”

He lamented that the corpse was yet to be identified, saying some sensitive organs had been removed from the body. He said the man’s ears and nose had been cut off, while his private part had also been tampered with.

He appealed to members of the public who were missing relatives to report to the police for possible identification of the corpse, specifically at the Pankshin Police Station, for further information.

The Plateau State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Alabo Alfred, did not respond to calls made to him.
