The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, says it has destroyed a terrorist enclave during precision airstrikes carried out in Yaganari, Gezuwa general area of Borno State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the airstrikes were conducted on July 10 after credible intelligence revealed renewed terrorist activities and the concentration of fighters in the area.
Ejodame said intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs before the targets were engaged.
He said the precision strikes destroyed the identified terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several insurgents.
The Air Force noted that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorist groups and deny them freedom of movement and the ability to regroup.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustained offensive operations against terrorist groups.
According to him, the Air Force will continue to work with ground forces to disrupt and destroy terrorist elements while ensuring they have no safe haven to rebuild their capabilities.
