
Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi, has called on newly deployed National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to serve as positive agents of transformation and promote national unity during their one year service in the state.
The governor made the call at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch B, Stream I corps members held at the Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp in Fanisau, Dutse.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmad, the Governor urged the corps members to embrace their responsibilities with dedication and patriotism, stressing that they have a vital role to play in advancing development and strengthening national integration.
He assured participants of the state government’s continued commitment to their welfare throughout their service year, noting that Jigawa remains committed to providing a conducive environment for them to contribute meaningfully to society.
According to him, corps members posted to the state will have the opportunity to participate in the government’s ongoing transformation agenda, particularly in the areas of education, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
Earlier, the State NYSC Coordinator, Muhammad Baba Bala, disclosed that about 2,000 corps members had been deployed to Jigawa State for the 2026 Batch B, Stream I service year.
He encouraged them to make effective use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the orientation programme in their various places of primary assignment and expressed appreciation to the Jigawa State Government for its sustained support to the NYSC scheme.
The oath of allegiance was administered to the corps members by Justice Amina Dahiru, formally ushering them into the national service programme.
