Daily Post 3 minutes 1 mins read

Tension has gripped Ugya community in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following allegations that the principal of Junior Secondary School, Ugya, beat a JSS 2 student and that the student’s father was taken to a police station after confronting him over the incident.

A resident, Huzaifa Yusuf, who disclosed the incident, said the student was allegedly beaten by the principal for failing to participate in manual labour after school hours.

According to Yusuf, the student’s father subsequently visited the school to protest what he considered excessive punishment and warned the principal against treating his child in such a manner.

The father was, however, reportedly taken to the police station following the confrontation.

The incident has sparked concern among residents, who have called on the Nasarawa State Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities to investigate the allegations, establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served.

As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by the school authorities, the police or the state Ministry of Education regarding the incident.
