Nations League: Leao breaks silence after taking Ronaldo’s no.7 shirt

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Portugal forward, Rafael Leão has spoken for the first time since he was handed the No. 7 shirt.

Leão was assigned the shirt after Cristiano Ronaldo left the national team camp on Wednesday.

The Galatasaray star wore it as Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 in a UEFA Nations League clash on Thursday evening.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Leão said: “It’s been special for me to wear the No. 7 shirt because Cristiano has been my idol since I was a child.

“My kids were also born on the 7th, so I am so happy.

“I tried my best to respect this number, this shirt. I am happy with the win.”
