Senior Advocate of Nigeria and one of the candidates in the recently concluded Nigerian Bar Association, NBA election, Akinboro Olumuyiwa, has alleged that the exercise was the worst the association has ever had.
DAILY POST recalls that the election, which was concluded on July 19, had Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN emerging as the winner.
According to the association, Badejo-Okusanya secured a total of 12,317 votes, representing 47.18 per cent of the total votes cast in the NBA national election.
However, Olumuyiwa, who spoke with Arise TV on Tuesday, rejected the outcome, stating that the exercise was marred by irregularities.
According to him, the voting site crashed just 30 minutes into the exercise, destabilizing the candidates.
He said, “this is the worst of all the elections we have been having in NBA. Take for example, the election was supposed to commence by 12 midnight, within 30 minutes the site crashed and my name did not come out as my name. My picture was not in the ballot.
“They suddenly shut down and later told me that it was a cyber attack. Cyber attack will not change what has been inputted in the system. It can only shut down the system.
“From midnight, I went to sleep around 6:30 am and what they said was that the election was suspended. A lot of people went to sleep. They woke me up again and said the election is on”.
