NDDC set to commence  repair work on Sapele – Warri road

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has flagged off  reconstruction of the Benin – Sapele express road with assurance that the project would be completed within the shortest possible time 

The Managing Director of the commission, Dr Samuel Ogbuku who spoke yesterday at the flag off ceremony at Amukpe roundabout, Sapele local government area apologized on behalf of President Bola Tinubu to people of the area and commuters on the road for the hardship  they suffered due to the deplorable  state.

Continuing, he said work would start from the Sapele and the Warri end to fix the deplorable portions.

His words  : ” The bad road in the region did not start today . This has been for a long time.  I apologize on behalf of Mr President to people of this area and the commuters for the hardship they have passed through. We  feel your pain,  the most important thing is that hope has come . Mr President directed that the NDDC should step in. And we engaged the federal  Ministry of works and we came for inspection. We later requested for the design of the road and  we are here today. 

“Mr President wants the people to get what they deserve that is why we are here. This road also serves other Nigerians and other parts of the country . Constructing the road will benefit all of us. “

Earlier, Mr  Victor Antai, Executive Director Projects of the  NDDC  said a Chinese firm,  China Civil Engineering construction Corporation Nigeria limited,   was one of the firms to handle the reconstruction, urging surrounding communities  and other stakeholders to support the process..

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by his Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information in Delta State,   Mr Charles Aniagwu  formally declared  the reconstruction work to commence 

In their separate speeches , Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta central senatorial district and the member representing Ethiope federal Constituency in the House of Representatives , Rep Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu commended the commission for the intervention .
