The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa State Command, has sought the support of traditional rulers in tackling drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the state.

The State Commander, CN Hassan Katangana Kabaju, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje, CON, at the Hadejia Emirate Palace on Friday.

Kabaju, who was accompanied by members of his management team, was received by the Galadiman Hadejia, Alhaji Usman Abdul’aziz, on behalf of the emir.

During the visit, the NDLEA commander highlighted the role of traditional institutions in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, guiding young people and mobilising communities to support efforts to combat illicit drugs.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to working with traditional rulers and other stakeholders to protect communities and promote a drug-free society.

The agency said the visit was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions in addressing drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking in Jigawa State.

In his response, the Emir of Hadejia pledged the emirate’s support for efforts to tackle drug abuse and trafficking.
