The Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, and the newly deployed Commander of the 31 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. K. Rabiu, have pledged to strengthen intelligence sharing and joint security operations to tackle the security challenges confronting the state.
The commitment was made on Thursday when Brig. Gen. Rabiu paid a courtesy visit to the Niger State Police Command Headquarters in Dutsen-Kura, Minna, following his deployment as Commander of the 31 Artillery Brigade.
Rabiu said the visit was to formally introduce himself and reinforce the existing working relationship between the Nigerian Army and the Police.
He emphasised the need for improved intelligence sharing, coordinated operations, and stronger inter-agency collaboration, noting that effective synergy among security agencies remains critical to addressing insecurity in Niger State and across the country.
The Brigade Commander also sought the continued support of the Police Command, describing the Police as the lead agency in internal security.
He urged the regular sharing of actionable intelligence to improve operational effectiveness and ensure prompt responses to security threats.
Rabiu further appreciated the Commissioner of Police for the support extended during the send-off ceremony of his predecessor and appealed for sustained cooperation between personnel of both security formations.
Responding, CP Elleman welcomed the new Brigade Commander and expressed confidence that his deployment would further strengthen the partnership between the Police and the Nigerian Army in the state.
He described Brig. Gen. Rabiu as an experienced and professional officer while commending the 31 Artillery Brigade for its continued support for police operations across Niger State.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to enhanced intelligence sharing and joint operations, stressing that no single security agency could effectively address the country’s security challenges alone.
Elleman assured the Brigade Commander of the Command’s full cooperation, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration among security agencies would significantly reduce insecurity and improve the safety of lives and property across Niger State.
