The Nigerian Independent System Operator has announced an extension of the planned outage on the Bauchi–Gombe 330kV transmission line, shifting the completion timeline to 30 July 2026.
In a customer notice issued on Wednesday, Communications Officer Blessing Tunoh said the extended outage will now run from 2 July to 30 July 2026.
The operator explained that the decision was necessary to give contractors additional time to complete the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) along the Bauchi–Gombe single-circuit 330kV transmission corridor.
According to the statement, the extension was also required to cover days lost during the earlier approved outage period, ensuring that the project is fully completed without compromising technical standards.
The upgrade project, the notice added, forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s transmission infrastructure and improve overall system reliability across the region.
Customers were urged to remain patient throughout the extended outage period, with assurances that the work, once completed, would enhance service delivery.
Electricity consumers under the Yola Electricity Distribution Company network were also notified of the development through official communication channels.
