North-East governors seek revival of stalled Borno oil exploration

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

The North-East Governors’ Forum (NEGF) has called on the Federal Government to revive stalled oil exploration activities in Borno State, particularly in Magumeri and Gubio Local Government Areas.
The governors made the demand in a communiqué issued at the end of the Forum’s 13th regular meeting held at the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri on Saturday.

Reading the communiqué, the Forum’s Vice Chairman and Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Fintiri, urged the Federal Government to revisit petroleum exploration activities that had previously commenced in Magumeri and Gubio but were subsequently stalled.

The two-day meeting, which took place from October 2 to 3, 2026, brought together governors and senior officials from Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe states to deliberate on security, economic integration and infrastructure development across the region.
