The Nigerian Navy says a notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing the commencement of its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise, is fake and not coming from the military.
The Nigerian Navy spoke in a statement by the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, on Monday in Abuja.
Folorunsho described the circulating information as unauthorised and warned members of the public against relying on it.
He also called on prospective applicants to exercise caution and disregard recruitment-related information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.
According to him, authentic information concerning Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would only be released through the service’s authorised communication channels.
“The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the public that a recruitment notice currently circulating on social media platforms, purportedly announcing the Nigerian Navy Recruitment 2026 Batch 39 exercise, is not official.
“The Nigerian Navy states that the notice, as circulated, is not an authorised publication and should not be trusted as an official recruitment announcement.
“The Nigerian Navy advises prospective applicants and the public to exercise caution and disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites, or other sources.
“Official information regarding Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines, and categories, will only be communicated through authorised Nigerian Navy channels. The official website for Nigerian Navy recruitment or enlistment is http://joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, and the official website remains,” the statement said.
