The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old prophet, Nicholas Nusa, in connection with the alleged abduction of five girls in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, who is the overseer of Divine Grace Church, located along Imoga Road in Ibillo, is also accused of impregnating one of the girls, a 15-year-old.
The police said the girl, who recently underwent a Caesarean section, is receiving medical attention at a hospital and has been placed under the care of the Brave Heart Organisation.
According to the command, the children were allegedly taken from the Ibillo and Imoga communities on different occasions between September 2025 and April 2026 and subsequently kept at the suspect’s residence.
The command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the arrest followed information received by the police.
Ikoedem said the suspect allegedly admitted to the offences during questioning by investigators.
She added that the command was making efforts to locate and reunite the children with their families, while investigations into the allegations remained ongoing.
