Enyimba head coach, Emmanuel Deutsch has praised his players despite their defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
The Aba giants started the new season with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, Minna, on Sunday.
Aliyu Goyi gave the hosts the lead from the penalty spot five minutes before the break.
Enyimba fought back and restored parity through a Wonah Williams header in the 71st minute.
Michael Olalusi, however, netted the winning goal for Tornadoes seven minutes from time.
Deutsch was pleased with the performance of his players in the keenly contested encounter.
“Losing the opening match does not mean you have lost the league. I think it was a very good game.
“For the game, totally, I’m impressed because the pre-season was very hard,” Deutsch told the club’s media.
Enyimba will take on Doma United in their next league game.
