Rivers United climbed to second place on the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table after recording a convincing 5-0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC.
The Port Harcourt-based side took the lead in the 27th minute through Salman Abubakar, who produced a brilliant effort from outside the box to beat the goalkeeper.
Rivers United dominated proceedings and created several opportunities to increase their advantage before half-time, but Kun Khalifat held on to go into the break trailing by just one goal.
The hosts, however, returned from the interval with renewed intensity and quickly extended their lead.
Chijioke Mbaoma made it 2-0 in the 49th minute after being set up by Alex Oyowah.
Abubakar completed his brace nine minutes later, finishing off a well-worked team move to put Rivers United firmly in control.
The goals continued to flow as Wasiu Falolu added a fourth in the 62nd minute, with Mbaoma providing the assist.
Substitute Ekene Awazie rounded off the scoring six minutes before the end of regulation time to complete an emphatic 5-0 victory for the home side.
The win takes Rivers United to 10 points from four matches, placing them second on the NPFL table, while Kun Khalifat remain 19th with two points from five games.
