NPFL sanctions Inter Lagos over security breach

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Inter Lagos have been handed a heavy sanction by the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, following multiple breaches during their Matchday 7 fixture against Katsina United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Sunday.

According to the NPFL, the club failed to provide adequate security for the match, allowing unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas.

The breach reportedly led to an attack on match officials as they made their way from the dressing room to their vehicle after the game.

As a result, Inter Lagos have been fined N5.2 million by the league body.

In addition, the club will have three points and three goals deducted from their accrued points and goal tally for assaulting and causing injury to the first assistant referee.

Inter Lagos have 48 hours from the date of the notice to appeal the sanction.
