Musu Drammeh, Secretary of the National People’s Party (NPP) National Female Wing, has resigned from the party with immediate effect.
Drammeh announced her resignation in a letter addressed to the Administrative Secretary of the NPP National Bureau in Bundungka Kunda, Serrekunda.
In the letter, she said the decision was not easy, explaining that she joined the NPP alongside a friend and brother, whom he did not name, but said that person encouraged her to become part of the party.
She said the individual stood by her throughout her journey within the party, during both good and difficult moments.
According to Drammeh, the person later experienced issues with the party leadership, which led him to make the difficult decision to leave the NPP.
She said she had since made genuine efforts to understand the situation, communicate with the relevant parties and find ways to resolve the issues.
However, she said those efforts had not resulted in any change.
“At this point, I feel that I have to remain true to my values and to the loyalty I owe to someone who has been there for me throughout this journey,” Drammeh stated in her resignation letter.
She said this was the reason she had decided it was also right for her to step away from the party.
Drammeh thanked the NPP for the experiences, relationships, lessons and opportunities she gained during her time as a member.
She stressed that she holds no hatred or disrespect towards the party or its members and wished everyone within the NPP the best.
“This resignation is a personal decision I based on my principles, loyalty, and conscience,” she said, adding that she hoped the decision would be respected.
