NRS disowns fake recruitment notice circulating online

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Nigeria Revenue Service, NRS, has disowned a recruitment notice circulating online in the name of its former identity, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS.

In a public notice titled “Fraudulent Recruitment Notice” posted on its official X account on Monday, the NRS said it had been alerted to a notice headlined “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, which is being circulated on social media and other platforms.

The Service said the notice was fraudulent and did not originate from the NRS.

“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the notice is fraudulent and did not emanate from the Nigeria Revenue Service,” it stated.

It reminded members of the public that the FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS.

“Accordingly, any purported recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS should be treated with caution and independently verified,” the Service added.

The NRS also clarified that it had neither authorised nor commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the fake notice.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NRS has not authorised or commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the notice and has not appointed or authorised any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct any recruitment exercise on its behalf,” it said.

The agency advised members of the public to disregard the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment-related messages and links.

It urged Nigerians to verify recruitment information through the Service’s official communication channels before taking any action.
