The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested and paraded more than 13 suspects in connection with cable vandalism, armed robbery, car theft and human trafficking across the Federal Capital Territory and six other states.
The arrests, according to the Corps, were carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) as part of ongoing operations to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and disrupt organised criminal activities.
The National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Assistant Commandant Babawale Afolabi, disclosed the development during a press parade at the Corps’ National Headquarters in Abuja and at a crime scene in Yangoji, Kwali Area Council.
The operations covered the FCT, Nasarawa, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, Niger and Kaduna States.
One of the major breakthroughs involved the arrest of 25-year-old Isaac Zegbe, a former employee of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), who the Corps alleges was involved in the vandalism of more than 15 kilometres of aluminium conductors along the Yangoji-Abaji route.

The NSCDC said the vandalised conductors were valued at more than ₦350 million and were subsequently distributed to marketers across several markets in the FCT.
Following a targeted sting operation, operatives recovered a substantial quantity of vandalised electrical cables at Gudu Market and arrested suspected receivers, including Chijoke Christian, who allegedly confessed to knowingly purchasing stolen cables.
The Corps said it had obtained a court order to seal the shops of merchants linked to the purchase of the stolen aluminium cables.
In another intelligence-led operation, the CG’s SIS dismantled a four-man car theft syndicate allegedly specialising in the theft of Toyota vehicles across the FCT and neighbouring states.
The suspects were identified as Adamu Yusuf, Hassan Bukar, Adamu Musa, also known as “Yellow”, and Abdulsalam Isa, also known as “Kada”.
Operatives also arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery gang identified as Nuhu Ndam, Ponbin Lamkur, Yilcwat Sohdan and Ganpyal Dul.
According to the Corps, one AK-47 rifle with serial number 3152097, 16 rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition and ₦70,000 in cash were recovered from the suspects.
The intelligence operation also yielded a breakthrough in a human trafficking investigation, with the recovery of Micaiah Nana, the last of 16 children allegedly trafficked by Archibong Anderson on January 15, 2026.
The NSCDC said the individuals who allegedly purchased the child had been detained and were assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.
Other suspects arrested in separate operations include Bilyaminu Musa and Abba Yusuf, who were apprehended over alleged power cable vandalism within Abuja city centre.
Another suspect, Theophilus Oche Oboii, was arrested over the alleged theft of 15 tractor batteries from the National Agricultural Seeds Council in Kwali. The Corps said the suspect allegedly sold the batteries for ₦20,000 each.
Items recovered during the multi-state operations include a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number YAB 163 EE, cut armoured electrical cables, 15 tractor batteries, master keys, cutting tools, knives and a stolen travel bag containing clothing.
The NSCDC said it would continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against criminal networks and ensure that critical national assets and infrastructure are protected.
Afolabi assured the public that the Corps would leave no safe haven for criminal elements, adding that all suspects would be formally charged in court after investigations are concluded and a prima facie case is established.
