Ogun 2027: INEC excludes PDP’s Adebutu, running mate from final list of candidates

Daily Post about 1 hour 2 mins read

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has excluded the Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ladi Adebutu, and his running mate from its final list of candidates for the 2027 governorship election.

Adebutu and his running mate, both members of the PDP, were absent from the list released by the commission.

INEC listed candidates from 13 political parties for the election, but the reasons for the omission of Adebutu and his running mate were not immediately known as of the time of filing this report.

The final list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, also includes the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal Jimi Adebisi, and his running mate, Olutayo Florence Funlola Folake, whose inclusion followed a court order.

Other candidates listed for the Ogun State governorship election are Okewole Shuaib Olaniyi of Party A, Awofala Awolola Awoniyi of the Action Alliance (AA), Anifowose Johncrownfit Kayode of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, and Adeola Solomon Olamilekan of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The list also features Babajide Rotimi Mathew of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Layi Labode Halima of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Adenuga Adekunle Dreher of the Boot Party (BP), Dasaolu Oluwaseyi Olamilekan of the National Democratic Party (NDP), and Akinbola Hammed Rotham of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
