All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in the Diaspora, Femi Ajayi, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his 56th birthday, saying the governor is building a state its citizens abroad will be proud to return to, invest in and call home.
Ajayi said the governor’s birthday offered an opportunity not only to celebrate his life but also to reflect on the responsibility of leadership and the legacy his administration is building.
In a birthday message to the governor, the APC chieftain commended Okpebholo for recognising Edo people in the Diaspora as important stakeholders in the development of the state, saying the governor’s inclusive approach had strengthened their sense of belonging and confidence in the administration.
“For those of us in the Diaspora, home is never far from our hearts. Every positive development in Edo strengthens our confidence and reminds us that the future we desire for our state is possible,” Ajayi said.
He said Okpebholo had a historic opportunity to create a state where citizens could prosper and Edo people across the world would increasingly be encouraged to return, invest and contribute to development, adding that the governor had already demonstrated a commitment to that vision.
“Your Excellency, you are building an Edo State that our people at home can be proud to live in and our citizens abroad can be proud to return to, invest in and call home.
“The progress we see today gives us confidence that this opportunity is being put to good use. That, in my view, would rank among the greatest legacies you can leave behind,” he said.
Ajayi also praised the governor for remaining focused on security, infrastructure, economic opportunities and the welfare of the people, while strengthening the relationship between Edo and its Diaspora community.
He prayed for greater wisdom, strength and good health for Okpebholo as he begins another year.
Ajayi said: “The birthday celebrations will pass. The congratulatory messages will fade. But the impact of your leadership will remain. That is the legacy we celebrate and are proud to identify with.
“At 56, I celebrate Governor Monday Okpebholo and wish him greater wisdom and courage as he continues building an Edo whose progress speaks not only to those at home, but to Edo people everywhere in the world. “Happy birthday, Your Excellency.”
