AKURE — Political analyst and grassroots advocate, Adedotun Adebumiti, has urged voters in Ondo Central Senatorial District to support the African Democratic Congress, ADC, candidate and former Senator Ayo Akinyelure in the 2027 election.
Adebumiti, who spoke with journalists in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, said Akinyelure’s previous tenure in the Senate was characterised by what he described as employment opportunities, community development and accessibility to constituents.
He said the call for Akinyelure’s return was based on his record of service rather than political party affiliation.
“Akinyelure’s open-door policy allowed constituents to easily communicate their needs and concerns. That is essential for effective representation,” Adebumiti said.
He described the former senator’s tenure between 2011 and 2015 as beneficial to communities across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
Adebumiti urged voters to consider candidates’ records and accessibility when making their choice in the 2027 election.
“He has the credibility and the passion. When he was in office, he employed many people, from civil defence to immigration and the police. You cannot go to any local government in Ondo Central without meeting someone who benefited from employment opportunities,” he said.
Adebumiti also criticised what he described as shortcomings in the distribution of empowerment opportunities under the current representation, alleging that some names were removed from beneficiaries’ lists.
He said elected representatives should ensure that their programmes and interventions were accessible to all constituents, regardless of political affiliation.
Adebumiti further argued that Akinyelure’s history of contesting and winning elections on different political platforms demonstrated what he described as his personal appeal and commitment to public service.
