The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship election, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), has pledged to revitalise Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the state if elected.
The pledge came as no fewer than 1,500 residents of Ode-Omu and neighbouring communities in Ayedaade Local Government Area benefited from a free medical outreach organised in his honour by Engr. Kazeem Opejin.
The outreach featured free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, weight and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments, medical consultations, medications, health education and counselling, as well as eye care services. More than 1,000 pairs of eyeglasses and eye drops were distributed to beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Oyebamiji, who was represented by his wife, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji, said revitalising primary healthcare centres would improve access to quality healthcare, particularly for rural communities.
She said the outreach reflected the APC candidate’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.
“Looking at the present condition of the health sector in Osun State, reaching out to people through healthcare interventions is the right thing to do. We have organised medical outreaches across the state, and this is the second in this federal constituency.
“You can see that AMBO’s team is made up of people who understand the needs of Osun residents. A vote for the APC is a vote for improved healthcare, better infrastructure, quality education and a more prosperous state,” she said.
Dr. Oyebamiji urged residents, particularly women, to support the APC candidate in the August 15 governorship election, assuring them that their welfare would be prioritised if he is elected.
Earlier, Opejin said more than 1,500 residents benefited from the outreach, explaining that the initiative was motivated by concerns over healthcare delivery in the state and the need to provide immediate support for rural communities.
According to him, an Oyebamiji administration would strengthen healthcare services across Osun State.
“When AMBO is elected governor, he will make healthcare more effective and accessible than what we are witnessing today. His wife is a medical doctor, and both of them are passionate about healthcare.
They have supported many health-related initiatives, and this outreach is another way of assisting the people of Ode-Omu and surrounding rural communities,” he said.
