An Ibadan chief, Oloye Adegboyega Adegoke, has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial primary election.
The election was conducted on Friday across the state.
DAILY POST reports that the result of the election was declared on Saturday evening.
Chairman of the primary committee, Hon. Rasak Salinsile, while speaking, noted that Adegoke polled 16,051 votes to emerge as the winner.
Adegoke, who doubles as the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, was declared the winner after defeating four other aspirants.
The four other aspirants are Chief Bisi Ilaka, who polled 11,415 votes; Chief Gbemilade Alagbe, who polled 241 votes; Dr. Azeez Adeduntan, who scored 155 votes; and Barrister Niyi Aborishade, who scored 67 votes.
Salinsile, while speaking, said that the delay in announcing the results was because of the large size of the state.
He added that the results from some parts of the state were received on Saturday afternoon.
Adegoke, while speaking, promised people-oriented projects if elected.
He added that he is ready to work with the other four aspirants in order to win the general election.
“I am ready to work with everybody. We will work together. We will brainstorm together for the betterment of Oyo State.
“I will bring incremental development to Oyo State. Where the present government stops, that is where we will start.”
