Oyo 2027: INEC releases names of 16 guber candidates

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released the names of 16 governorship candidates contesting the forthcoming election in Oyo State.

The 16 names were contained in the final list of governorship candidates contesting the 2027 election in the state, released by the commission.

The list included Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Hon. Abimbola Adekanmbi, the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM); Chief Adegboyega Adegoke, the candidate of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC); Mr Saheed Oladele, the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC); and Alhaji Oriyomi Hazmat, the candidate of Accord.

Others are Mr Kunle Olatunji, the candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP); Taiwo Otegbeye, the candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP); Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Yinusa Ayandoye, the candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP); and Azzan Olanrewaju, the candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The election is expected to take place across the state’s 33 local government areas.

The winner of the election will take over from Governor Seyi Makinde who is expected to complete his second term in office in May next year.
