Oyo extends curfew in 10 LGAs by 24 hours

Oyo State Government has extended by 24 hours the curfew imposed on 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park.

Governor Seyi Makinde approved the extension, according to a memo issued on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

It will be recalled that the state government announced a curfew from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the affected local government areas on June 23, 2026.

With the latest extension, the curfew, which was initially scheduled to remain in force for 48 hours, will now continue until Saturday, June 27, 2026.

The affected local government areas are Oriire Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Ikoyi-Ile; Orelope Local Government Area, headquartered in Igboho; Irepo Local Government Area, headquartered in Kisi; Saki West Local Government Area, headquartered in Saki; Saki East Local Government Area, headquartered in Ago-Amodu; Atisbo Local Government Area, with headquarters in Tede/Ago-Are; Itesiwaju Local Government Area, headquartered in Otu; Iseyin Local Government Area, headquartered in Iseyin; Olorunsogo Local Government Area, headquartered in Igbeti; and Atiba Local Government Area, with its headquarters in Offa-Meta, Oyo.

Meanwhile, the state government has not yet announced any further changes to the restrictions beyond the newly approved extension.
