Police in Nsangi Division have arrested 11 suspects as investigations intensify into a case of aggravated robbery and rape that occurred in Nakirama Cell, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
According to Police, the attack took place in the early hours of Tuesday, 28th July 2026, at around 4:00 a.m., when an unidentified assailant allegedly broke into a woman’s shop before attacking her with a knife.
The suspect reportedly demanded money and threatened to inflict grievous harm if the victim failed to comply. After the robbery, the assailant allegedly raped the victim before fleeing the scene.
The survivor later reported the incident at Kikajo Police Post, prompting an immediate response from detectives attached to the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Scene of Crime Officers, and the Police Canine Unit.
Investigators visited and processed the crime scene, which Police said had been well preserved, allowing forensic and canine teams to carry out their work effectively.
A police sniffer dog, TP 297 Sofia, was introduced at the victim’s bedroom, where the attack had occurred. The canine successfully picked up a scent trail and tracked it for approximately one kilometre before leading investigators to a nearby bar.
At the bar, officers found more than ten people who were reportedly intoxicated. During scent identification, the sniffer dog indicated one of the individuals by sitting beside him, prompting officers to arrest all 11 people who were present for further scrutiny.
The suspects were taken into custody at Kikajo Police Post, where they remain detained as detectives continue with investigations.
Police said inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the principal offender responsible for the attack.
The Police have urged members of the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by providing any information that may assist in the investigations.
