The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old man, Adeniyi Benjamin, for allegedly operating an unlicensed medical facility and treating patients for about seven years without medical qualifications or a licence to practise.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, saying Benjamin was arrested on October 2, 2026, at about 3 p.m. by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit at his clinic, Life Is Good Hospital, in the Olodo area of Ibadan.

According to Ayanlade, the arrest followed credible intelligence received by the command concerning the suspect’s activities at the facility.

“The suspect was found attending to patients and administering treatments, particularly fertility-related treatments, despite not being a certified medical doctor,” the statement said.

Police said operatives recovered two weighing scales, four Quantum Magnetic Resonance Body Analysers, one stethoscope, and a large carton containing assorted medicines and specimen bottles from the facility.

The command said preliminary investigation revealed that Benjamin had confessed to operating as a quack practitioner for about seven years without a licence to practise medicine.

According to the police, the suspect also admitted specialising in fertility-related treatments, which he administered to patients at the facility.

Ayanlade said the development raised concerns over the potential danger posed to members of the public who may unknowingly obtain medical treatment from unqualified practitioners, particularly in sensitive areas such as fertility care.

The police said the investigation was ongoing to determine the full scope of the suspect’s activities and establish whether other individuals were involved in the operation of the facility.

The command said appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law as the investigation progresses.

It also urged residents to verify the professional qualifications and registration status of individuals offering medical services before entrusting them with their health or that of their loved ones.

The Oyo Police Command further called on members of the public to report suspicious medical facilities or individuals claiming to be medical practitioners without verifiable credentials to the police or relevant regulatory authorities.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that it would continue to work with regulatory agencies and members of the public to curb activities capable of endangering the health and safety of residents.
