JOS — The Plateau State Police Command has arrested two suspects and recovered three locally fabricated firearms in separate operations across the state.

The command said the operations were part of sustained intelligence-led policing and proactive patrols aimed at preventing crime, curbing the circulation of illegal firearms and dismantling criminal networks threatening the peace and security of communities.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday.

Alabo said one of the suspects, Emmanuel Musa, 35, of Dogon Nahawa, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, was arrested on September 17, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), Team 1, Bukuru.

According to him, the operatives arrested Musa during a routine patrol along Anguldi-Vom Road and found him in possession of two locally fabricated firearms — a rifle and a pistol.

He said investigation was ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court upon its conclusion.

The police spokesman said another suspect, Daleng Victor, 27, of D.B. Zang Junction, was arrested in a separate operation on October 7, 2026.

Alabo said operatives of the Safer Highways Patrol Unit at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, arrested Victor, who was allegedly found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol.

He added that Victor was being investigated by VCRU Team 3 and would also be charged to court after the investigation.

The statement quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, as appreciating residents for their continued support, cooperation and timely provision of credible information to the police.

Faniyan also thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the operational support extended to the command.

The commissioner assured residents that the command remained committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of communities across the state.

He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police, stressing that collaboration and timely information-sharing were vital to preventing crime.

The command also called on residents to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing criminal activities and apprehending suspects.
