Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Bauchi State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the suspected murder of Jemimah Dutse, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) women leader in Bauchi South.

Dutse was reportedly found dead in a pool of blood inside her residence at Muazu New Layout, Yelwa, Bauchi, with her throat slit by yet-to-be-identified assailants.

The Police said the incident was reported at the ‘E’ Division on October 3, 2026, at about 2:07 pm by a 49-year-old resident of Muazu New Layout.

According to the spokesperson of the Command, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement issued on Sunday, detectives attached to the division immediately visited the scene, documented the area and evacuated the deceased’s body to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical examination and autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the immediate transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and thorough investigation.

The Command said the investigation was aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding Dutse’s death and identifying those responsible for the alleged murder.

The Police assured members of the public that no stone would be left unturned in efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The Command also commiserated with the family, friends and political associates of the deceased, assuring them that further developments would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
