…Says officers were never detained

The Nigeria Police Force has clarified that the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, were not detained and have returned to their respective duty posts.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, disclosed this to Vanguard on Tuesday, explaining that the two officers were invited for questioning over certain allegations but were subsequently cleared after the issues were reviewed.
Iniedu said the officers were found to have been carrying out their assigned responsibilities and were therefore released to resume their duties.
“While it is true that both officers were invited for questioning regarding some allegations, the Police has clarified the issues and discovered that the officers were simply performing their assigned responsibilities. Hence, they are back to their duty posts,” he said.
The clarification followed reports of heightened political tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, with the two security officers reportedly linked to disagreements among factions within the party.
The development was said to have occurred against the backdrop of growing political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Sources within the party had described the situation as part of a broader struggle for political influence between different blocs within the Katsina APC.
One of the blocs is reportedly aligned with Governor Radda, while another is said to be loyal to Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Political Matters.
The disagreements have reportedly intensified over control of the party’s political structure ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, the Police clarification puts to rest reports suggesting that the governor’s ADC and CSO remained in custody, with the Force confirming that both officers have returned to their official assignments.
