The Kaduna State Police Command said it has disrupted criminal activities across the state, recovering firearms, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and arrested several suspects in intelligence-led operations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, stated this while briefing journalists on the Command’s recent security operations.
According to him, a suspected gun runner was arrested at Yan’Karfe Motor Park in Sabon Gari, Zaria, with two AK-49 rifles, 228 rounds of RPG ammunition, 275 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and five AK-47 magazines allegedly concealed in a sack he was carrying.
In a separate operation along Kachia Road, police recovered another 134 rounds of AK-47 ammunition from a suspected courier allegedly working for a wanted bandit identified as Yellow Mai-Million.
It also arrested three suspected members of a bandit gang along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, with investigations linking them to alleged criminal activities around Millennium City and other parts of the state, just as three other suspects were arrested in connection with alleged armed robbery and sexual assault around Rafin Tukurwa, behind Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
The Police also recovered a stolen Kaduna State Water Board Toyota Hilux in Kano State and arrested two suspects over the alleged vandalisation of critical infrastructure at the Infectious Disease Centre, Mando.
CP Rabiu described the recovery of the weapons and ammunition as a significant step towards disrupting criminal networks in the state, even as he urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
He assured that the Command would sustain intelligence-led operations to deny criminals freedom of action across Kaduna State.
