Police in Jigawa State have recovered the corpse of an unidentified man whose head was severed in Maigatari Local Government Area of the state.
A resident told DAILY POST that the corpse was dumped along the Maigatari-Gumel road on Saturday.
According to the resident, the deceased was found without his head, raising concerns among residents that he may have been killed by suspected ritualists.
The identity of the deceased remains unknown, as no identification document or other means of establishing his identity was found on him.
Police spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement issued to journalists.
He said the police received a report on Saturday about an unidentified corpse found along the Maigatari-Gumel road.
According to him, police officers immediately mobilised to the scene and discovered that the corpse had been beheaded.
