Police rescue 25yr old woman taken hostage in Delta

The Police have rescued a twenty-five year old woman who was allegedly assaulted and taken hostage and arrested a twenty-nine(29) year old suspect, Brotugbare Francis Onome in Usieffurun Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State. 

The Police also recovered from the premises, one fabricated Beretta pistol, one magazine and two rounds of live ammunition. 

The victim was rescued by the Police on 3rd October 2026, at about 0830hrs. 

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the report in a statement in Warri. 

He said, “On 3rd October 2026, at about 0830hrs, the DPO Otu-Jeremi Division, acting on credible intelligence shared by the DPO Ovwian-Aladja Division, mobilised operatives to Usiefrun Community, where a 25-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted and held hostage. The victim was rescued, while the main suspect identified as Brotugbare Francis Onome ‘m’, aged 29 years, was arrested.”

According to him, “A search of the premises led to the recovery of one fabricated Beretta pistol, one magazine and two rounds of live ammunition.”

SP Edafe also said that,”Investigation is ongoing.”
