Street-pop singer Portable, actor Charles Okocha, and musicians Idowest and Mr Real will headline the next edition of ‘Chaos in the Ring’, a celebrity and professional boxing event scheduled for July 31 at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Organised by Balmoral Promotions in partnership with DAZN and powered by Bet9ja, the event is expected to bring together professional boxers, celebrities and entertainment enthusiasts for a night of combat sports and entertainment.
According to the organisers, tickets for the event are now on sale as preparations intensify for what is being billed as one of the biggest boxing nights in Lagos.
The headline attraction will be the much-anticipated celebrity boxing contest between Portable and Charles Okocha, a matchup that has generated significant interest on social media and among fans. Also on the card is the long-awaited showdown between Idowest and Mr Real, who are expected to settle their long-running rivalry inside the ring.
The organisers said weeks of face-offs, media appearances and promotional activities have heightened anticipation for the event, with both celebrity bouts attracting widespread attention ahead of fight night.
Beyond the celebrity contests, the event will also feature professional boxing bouts, including a clash between Lekan Muibi and Godday Appah. At a recent press conference, both fighters engaged in a tense face-off, signalling their readiness for the contest.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Balmoral Promotions, Ezekiel Adamu, said the initiative is part of the company’s broader vision to position Africa as a major player in global combat sports.
In a post on Instagram, Adamu described the July 31 edition as “a significant milestone in our vision of connecting Africa to the world by building Africa’s combat sports ecosystem and creating global impact in the process.”
He added: “Beyond the fights, we are creating a platform for global storytelling, showcasing African talent, attracting international partnerships, and unlocking economic opportunities across the continent.”
