Portugal: ‘I won’t think of that, ever’ – Thierry Henry on whether Ronaldo’s career has ended

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

France and Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has offered his perspective on Cristiano Ronaldo following his unexpected departure from the Portugal national team camp.

Ronaldo shocked the football world when he departed from the Portugal national team’s training facility prior to their UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.

Following a press conference by Selecao head coach, Jorge Jesus, Ronaldo left the camp and travelled to Madrid via his private jet.

His decision to leave the camp came days after he was relegated to the bench during Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Norway. Jesus disclosed that he had assured Ronaldo of a 30-minute appearance as a substitute but subsequently failed to fulfil this commitment.

During his appearance on Rothen s’enflamme, France legend, Thierry Henry was invited to share his perspective on how the unexpected departure might influence Cristiano Ronaldo’s career trajectory.

He stated via RMC Sport: “Judging an entire career on this? Never. When I think of Ronaldo, I won’t think of that, ever, ever!”

Henry subsequently emphasised Ronaldo’s significance to the sport of football and indicated that he regarded him with the same esteem as Lionel Messi.

“I possess tremendous admiration for Ronaldo, just as I do for Messi, and for all the athletes who have sustained their excellence,” he said.

Cristiano Ronaldo announced that he would clarify his reasons for departing the national team in an upcoming social media statement. Supporters of the athlete anticipate seeing him receive recognition befitting his accomplishments.
