Released Oyo kidnapped students: New security framework needed – Shehu Sani

Daily Post about 2 hours 1 mins read

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has said a new security framework is needed to protect students when they return to school.

Sani made the remark while commending the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu; military, the Department of State Services, DSS; and the police over the release of abducted school children in Oyo State.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “It’s relieving to learn that the abducted Oyo pupils have been released. Kudos to the NSA Ribadu, the military, DSS, the NPF and all those whose efforts led to this success.

“As schools wind up for the summer vacation, a new national schools security framework is needed to protect students when they return.”

This comes as the abducted pupils and teachers from Orire, Oyo State, were freed by their abductors after 50 days in captivity.

Their release was announced in a post on X on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s spokesman.

“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.
