Russia send warning to Super Eagles with 6-0 win

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

Russia thrashed Nambia 6-0 in an international friendly on Saturday, ahead of their game against Nigeria on Tuesday.

Although the first half ended with only one goal, the 2018 World Cup hosts went into overdrive after the break in Yekaterinburg.

Lechi Sadulaev opened the scoring in the 37th minute of the match.

Nine minutes into the second half, Danil Prutsev doubled Russia’s advantage, before Konstantin Tyukavin struck 11 minutes later.

Maksim Glushenkov added Russia’s fourth in the 84th minute, Maksim Petrov converted a penalty three minutes later and Namibia’s misery was completed in stoppage time when Kamaijanda Ndisiro turned the ball into his own net.

Russia’s next game will now be against the Super Eagles at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium.

Nigeria’s last meeting with Russia ended 1-1 in June 2025, when Tolu Arokodare cancelled out Semi Ajayi’s own goal.
