Momodou Sabally, the youth president of the governing National People’s Party has claimed that he has now ended the opposition UDP’s long dominance of the Busumbala constituency, adding that the area is now fully behind president Adama Barrow.
Sabally, a onetime strong member of the UDP from the area, was addressing an NPP rally in Lamin over the weekend, He assured the president who was in attendance, that his victory in the area is certain.
According to Sabally, the people of Lamin have now come together in full solidarity with President Barrow and are grateful to him for appointing their sons in important government positions. He said these include Central Bank goverenor Buah Saidy, Ambassador Nuha Touray and himself, as Presidential Adviser.
“I want to declare that the UDP is now dead in Lamin today. I was the cause of the problem you were encountering here because I wanted to contest as National Assembly member for Busumbala but was disqualified and that angered the people of Busumbala constituency to vote for someone they do not know. That parliamentary seat was mine but it was given to him; but now the whole constituency knows that Sabally is fully NPP, so all those opposition votes are back to NPP,” Sabally assured the president at the rally.
He counted numerous important natives of Lamin who are now in NPP and with that, he said, the debate is over. “What is left is just empty talks. They cannot build you roads, they cannot provide you electricity. Only Barrow can do that,” Sabally stated.
