No fewer than seven men have been confirmed dead, while two others were severely injured in a multiple road crash that occurred along the Ibafo–Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo.
The fatal crash occurred at about 12:03 am on Monday.
It involved a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer, and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.
The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State Sector Command, Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, stating that speed violation was identified as the probable cause.
Odunsi added that the bodies of the deceased victims were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured victims were taken away for medical attention.
He said, “The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed a fatal multiple road traffic crash that occurred at about 0003hrs on Monday, 24 August 2026, along the Ibafo–Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo.
“Preliminary information indicates that nine (9) persons, all male, were involved in the crash. Sadly, seven (7) persons were killed, while two (2) persons sustained injuries.
“The FRSC Ibafo Outpost Command received the report at about 04:04hrs and arrived at the scene at 04:09hrs, representing a response time of approximately five minutes.
“The crash was classified as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation (SPV) identified as the probable cause, subject to further investigation.”
According to him, the crashed vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further necessary action.
The Corps commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
Odunsi quoted the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, as urging motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speed, maintain safe following distances, and remain vigilant at all times.
“Motorists are also advised to exercise extra caution when driving at night, as reduced visibility and fatigue can increase the risk of road traffic crashes,” he added.
