Sokoto gov seeks stronger federal govt support against banditry

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has called for stronger cooperation among all levels of government to tackle banditry and other forms of criminality affecting the state.

Aliyu made the call in his Independence Day message to the people of Sokoto State on Thursday, as Nigeria marked its 66th anniversary.

The governor commended the Federal Government for its support in the fight against banditry, saying sustained collaboration was necessary to restore lasting peace.

He said the state government had provided logistics and equipment to support conventional security agencies.

Other measures, he said, included facilitating the establishment of a military barracks in Illela and a Police Mobile Barracks at Tara Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area.

He urged residents to support the government and security agencies in efforts to tackle banditry and restore peace across the state.
