Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on Wednesday hosted the retiring former Anambra State Commissioner of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu.
Soludo hosted Orutugu during the Anambra State Executive Council meeting, praising him before key government officials for his service as Commissioner of Police in the state.
Orutugu was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and officially retired on Wednesday.
Soludo lauded Orutugu for his unwavering commitment, professionalism, and tactical leadership in maintaining law and order throughout his tenure as head of the Anambra State Police Command.
“Your fight against criminals who posed as freedom fighters cannot go unnoticed. You collaborated with sister security agencies to get the job done.
“You played a crucial role in strengthening the security architecture and fostering collaboration between the police force and the state government to safeguard lives and property,” Soludo said.
Responding, Orutugu expressed gratitude to the governor, the Executive Council, and the people of Anambra State for their cooperation and support.
He said their partnership during his service was the reason for the success he achieved. He attributed the successes recorded by the command to the collective resolve of security personnel and the strong backing of the state administration.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Chiamaka Nnake; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tochukwu Nweke; the State Director of the Department of State Services, Mr Chuks Anukposi; and the Traditional Ruler of Uke, Igwe Charles Agbala, all praised Orutugu for his work in Anambra.
