The Anambra State Government has commenced plans to compensate owners of properties affected by electricity transmission right-of-way projects across the state as part of efforts to strengthen power infrastructure while protecting the interests of impacted residents.

The Commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Chijioke Ojukwu, disclosed this while speaking on the development.

According to him, the government is currently working out the modalities for compensating affected property owners, a move he said reflects Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to balancing infrastructure development with the welfare of citizens.

Ojukwu explained that the compensation exercise is intended to cushion the impact of acquiring right-of-way corridors required for electricity transmission projects, which are considered critical to improving power supply and driving economic growth in the state.

He assured residents whose properties may be affected that the process would be transparent, fair and conducted in line with established procedures.

The commissioner reiterated that the Soludo administration remains committed to delivering critical infrastructure that will stimulate industrialisation and improve the quality of life of residents.

He added that the government would continue to ensure that individuals affected by public projects are duly recognised and compensated in accordance with the law.
