Somalia Moves Closer to Launching MICS7 Main Survey Following National Planning Meeting

The meeting brought together Directors General and Directors of Statistics from the Federal Member States to strengthen collaboration and align implementation plans ahead of fieldwork. The meeting was opened by SNBS Deputy Director General, Mr. Abdirahman Omar, who underscored the importance of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS7) in producing reliable and timely data to support evidence-based policymaking, planning and monitoring. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the successful implementation of the survey across the country. Technical sessions provided updates on the survey implementation plan, operational arrangements, progress in household listing, recruitment of enumerators and supervisors, fieldwork timelines, logistics, supervision, and data quality assurance measures. The meeting concluded with agreement on key action points and a roadmap for the rollout of the MICS7 Main Survey. SNBS expressed appreciation for the collaboration and commitment of Federal Member State counterparts as Somalia advances the production of high-quality official statistics to inform national development planning and improve the well-being of its people.
