Southern Kaduna marginalised under previous administration – Shehu Sani

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has accused the administration of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, of marginalising Southern Kaduna and denying the area access to critical infrastructure and essential social services.

Sani, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Kaduna Central, commended the incumbent governor, Uba Sani, for what he described as an inclusive approach to governance, saying the administration had carried different sections of the state along.

The former lawmaker made the remarks when the newly elected executive council of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum (SKJF) paid him a courtesy visit at his residence in Kaduna.

Sani said Governor Uba Sani had made efforts to address development gaps through road construction, the completion of abandoned projects and investments in key sectors across the state.

According to him, “Southern Kaduna suffered years of neglect under the previous administration. The area also suffered inadequate infrastructure and limited access to essential social amenities.”

He, however, said the Uba Sani administration had invested billions of naira in education, agriculture, transportation and healthcare as part of efforts to ensure balanced development across the state.

The APC senatorial candidate also praised Governor Uba Sani for what he described as deliberate efforts to promote unity among the state’s diverse ethnic groups through justice, equity and fairness.

He said these principles were necessary to unite the people and promote meaningful progress and development.

According to Sani, “Development initiatives across both Southern and Northern Kaduna are helping to promote inclusion and ensure that citizens across the state benefit from government programmes, while working together for the overall development of the state.”

He maintained that an inclusive approach to governance was essential to sustaining peace, strengthening unity and accelerating development across Kaduna State.

The visit provided an opportunity for the newly elected leadership of the Southern Kaduna Journalists Forum to engage with the former senator on governance, regional development, peace and the role of the media in promoting accountability and inclusive growth.
