‘Stay away from politics’ – NYSC DG warns Corps members

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has warned Corps Members to avoid engaging in political campaigns, rallies, and any activities that may associate them with a political party.

He issued this warning while addressing the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja.

The DG emphasized that the NYSC is a non-partisan organization, and as such, Corps Members are not permitted to partake in political activities.

“Do not involve yourselves in the campaigns of any political party. Keep NYSC separate from politics. You must stay away from political matters,” he stated.

General Nafiu also urged Corps Members to utilize social media responsibly and to refrain from offenses such as cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and cyber fraud.

“If you are found guilty, you will face repercussions. Exercise caution in your social media usage,” he warned.

The Director-General remarked that Corps Members have promising futures and encouraged them not to let negative influences hinder their goals.

He further advised them to practice financial prudence, develop a savings habit, and maintain discipline in their conduct.

General Nafiu motivated Corps Members to leverage their service year to foster national unity and integration by forming enduring friendships across cultural boundaries.

He also encouraged them to participate in the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program and to explore investment opportunities in the capital market as a strategy for securing their financial future.

He noted that the formal launch of the NYSC/Kudimata Capital Market Awareness Sensitization Programme in Lagos aims to equip Corps Members with vital knowledge about the capital market.

“This program is designed to empower you with financial literacy and investment capabilities.”

“It will also enable Corps Members to make well-informed financial choices,” he added.
